Campfires OK in Designated Firepits |
|
Thursday, 17 May 2012 09:41 |
|
If you're heading camping this weekend, you can have your campfire, but
only in an engineered fire pit at campgrounds. There are a number of fire
bans in the forested areas of the province, including Clearwater County, and
parts of Ponoka and Mountain View counties, as well as the town of Rocky
Mountain House. But David Finn, with Sustainable Resource Development in the
Clearwater area, says for campers, that means you can't have fires while random,
or backcountry, camping. You can have them at provincial and private
campgrounds, as long as they're in the designated, ringed pits
provided. |
